As I’ve said before, I adore the Windy Cindy. It always feels like coming home when I visit Chicago. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit this spring, and was reminded of one of the main reasons I love the city so much: its food. If I’m being honest, most of the money I spent in Chicago went toward dining out, as well as a very substantial portion of my time; I probably gained about five pounds, but it was worth it. So, without further ado, here are my top five favorite places to eat in Chicago
Gibson’s Bar & Steakhouse – I had my first steak at Gibson’s, and ever since, I’ve been hooked. And still, writing from the nation’s capital, where steak and bourbon is a way of life, Gibson’s continues to top my list. I strongly recommend a stop there if you are able to visit Chicago.

Chicago Q – Q is one of the places I keep coming back to each time I visit Chicago. That said, it’s a carnivore’s paradise; vegetarians, be warned. They have the best barbecue, prime rib, pulled pork – you name it. I love the wooden interior, and you can top off your meal with a glass of one of their outstanding bourbons.

The Gage – If you want to head to the Art Institute of Chicago (which you really should), The Gage is a great place to stop there before or afterward; it’s just across the street, and is great for both lunch and breakfast.

Maple and Ash – This is a new addition to the Chicago restaurant scene, but I loved it when I visited in spring. A wide open, several story restaurant draped in purple curtains, Maple and Ash serves a delicious array of steakhouse staples. I especially enjoyed the roasted bone marrow; and the restaurant also gave all its customers a small cocktail to try upon arrival.

Hash House a Go Go – This restaurant was new to me, but after heading there for a fantastic breakfast, I am completely sold. Hash House a Go Go serves huge portions of mouth-watering dishes all day. I cannot wait to return, and recommend you visit as well.
